January 21, 2009Congratulations, President Obama - now the world is watchingIt's great to see a Black Man in the White House. Long overdue and hopefully will set the tone for a fresh perspective on life all over the world. Congratulations to Barack Obama and his team - it's an extraordinary achievement - well done. He's been making a lot of the right noises - the ones the world has been wanting to hear since 2001 - but now he has to walk the walk. As an African-American friend of mine put it the other day: right now he's just another politician. I hope the weight of expectation doesn't stop him from changing the world for the better. We want to see real and substantial (if subtle) change in the way the US government addresses its own people as well as the rest of the world. If that happens, Obama's legacy will be as rich as his promise. Posted by Hughie at January 21, 2009 8:27 AMComments
