Simplicity

This one took a couple of years to write. It started out as a little guitar lick one night of deep drunken depression when I was living with my brother in a crumbling house in Cadell St, Toowong - not yet 21. The house is not there any more, replaced by a block of flats, which I find strangely poignant. A couple of years later I got to thinking about what the first part meant and then wrote part 2 to clarify it a bit. SHadows pass, I see a green light shining
And I live in the dark.
Shadows fly, I se our lived entwining.
As we wander through a moonlit park.

Coupled rhymes, repeating themes.

I don;t own expensive yachts,
Don't drive a red sports car.
And yet I travel far and wide,
No entourage, no limousine
Simplicity, simplicity.

While I'm wondering.

Who was it said life had to be hard,
We got the Internet, the XPT.
Technology, technology.

But I know the lust the for.
That endless, aching need.
The searing, all-consuming fire,
That begs around: God help me, please.
