You Gotta Dance

I generally try to keep my family out of this blog but this was a bit special. Some time ago my 9-year-old daughter, who's been trying everything get my attention post-divorce (how does a 40-year-old man relate to a 9-year-old girl except with love?), wrote a song for her class project on "entertainment" and wanted to dance to it. Her mum recorded it on her iPhone and emailed the raw audio to me. My daughter wanted me to "put some music to it" so she could dance for her class. This file is the result of a weekend of fun for us both.

Help yourself and enjoy. I think it's so cute and cheesy it's worth sharing. Such a lovely reminder of why we do this crazy music shit in the first place.

Technical difficulties

OK, so I bought this really expensive PC because the salesman assured me that his company only used the best quality components and it came with a great warranty. Most expensive upgrade EVER and the ONLY one that has ever given me problems ...

Never again ... I'm going Mac as soon as I can afford it ...

Unfortunately I was forced to use it because my old PC (got about 7 years out of it) eventually had BIOS failure and died. I can live with that but the timing was crap because the laptop on which I have written a book chapter also died at the same time ...

Technology hates me ...

However, I think I have found a repair guy, who lives about 2 blocks from me, who has fixed the problem. Turns out to have been a faulty power supply. We hope. So far, so good and I'm back online.

Right now I'm recording a song my daughter wrote on Pro Tools 9 with a MOTU Ultralite. It's been interesting ... I'll post an update ASAP ... it's for a presentation she has to give her class ... dancing and singing and all ...
