July 27, 2008Well done, Wallabies. Not often you put four tries on the All Blacks. Playing with an enthusiasm and commitment I've not seen for a while, the boys proved they deserved all the hype and nonsense that led up to the game. Robbie Deans may not be the Messiah but he's released this team to play to its fullest potential instead of being stifled by a game plan thought up by someone with a Rugby theory text in his hand ... Still, it's one thing to beat the All Blacks in Sydney, it's another to beat them in Auckland ... Keep it up next week, boys. Posted by Hughie at 8:42 PM | Comments

July 22, 2008Musowiki turns 200This morning I posted the 200th entry in Musowiki.net -- not counting redirect entries and a couple of odds and sods that are in there for ... dunno why. Anyway, this is a nifty milestone to reach at this point and I guess I will have to start doing some serious promotion of the site soon. The response has been very positive and continues to gather momentum, though it's early days and slow right now. that's not a bad thing, either. I'll just keep plugging away ... July 9, 2008Vanessa Amorosi liveOne of the things Dec Cluskey recommends is to get out regularly and see charting artists at work. Dec says if you want to perform like a star you need to study the way stars perform - reasonable point! So last night I went to the Troubadour to see Vanessa Amorosi perform. She's touring to promote her new album - and what a show! Great set of pipes and really cut it live. Well-written, catchy material. Well produced, well arranged ... great players. Actually ... competent players. Posted by Hughie at 4:30 PM | Comments

July 3, 2008QUEENSLANDER!!!Well, done, boys! What a great win! Backs-to-the-wall, tight and tense. Great stuff - what Origin is made of. And well done to the Blues, too. They looked the better team for much of the game and the second half was a real arm wrestle ... good footy. But I gotta say it: Braith Anasta showed yet again that at the level he's just not creative enough to play 5/8. Mitchell Pearce is an awesome prospect and the Blues forwards made plenty of yards, but there just wasn't the creativity to get the Blues across the Qld line when it counted - and that was Anasta's job. And how good does this make Mal Meninga's career? Won a three-peat as a player and also as a coach. Amazing guy, Mal, and an incredible footballer. Bring it on next year ...
