Well, I've been absent from this blog for far too long. What I've been doing, however, has (hopefully) set up the next chapter of my life, which will see a lot more action around here.
At long last, the PhD has been passed and finalised and I will graduate on July 26. I still have to finish two chapters for publication, but it's looking like the end of that. Also writing a book chapter for Cambridge Scholars Publishing about "Online Music Cultures". Will hopefully finish that tonight ...
Got me a job as Head of the Entertainment Business Management Department at JMC Academy. Loving this role. This organisation has so much potential to help aspiring artist of all kinds to realise their ambitions and make the world a more entertaining and enjoyable place. This job also gives me the opportunity to stay in touch with the latest trends in the music world and post my thoughts here ... plus I get to hang out with some very talented people and I hope I can help them a bit ...
Next, I have a choice. I can write Dr Huge's next book, "The Step-by-Step Music Career", or I can make another Huge and the Genre Benders album. Or I can try to do both. I really feel like I need to make the album and get out playing live again. But I also feel the book would make the world a much better place for more people and I ought to get on with it. My JMC colleague Stavros agrees.
The other approach is to use making the new album as an exemplar of what I intend to write about in the book. Show how the principles are applied as I go along, so to speak.
What do you think? Where should my priorities lie. Post a comment and let me know ...Posted by Hughie at July 3, 2011 1:01 PM
