Can't ignore the CGs, thugh I'm tempted to. Superb efforts all round and some great competition. It's a pity the media re obsessed with the medal count and Australia's position in it, because tere's some great stuff going on that doesn't involve Australians winning medals. It's also good to see Gus Gould giving a heads-up on the mental and human aspects of some of the performances - that makes a nice change to the usual.
Read the other day that the "Sydney - Melbourne rivalry" was to blame for Sydney viewers switching the games off. It's more like that Sydenysiders are less prepared to put up with the Crap coverage provided by Channel Nine. It's banal, asinine, parochial and boring. Too many talking heads and not enough athletes.
That said, congratulations to all the athletes - the winners and the rest - for a great exhibition of what world-class sport can be. Inspirational! It's been a pleasure to watch the little bits that I've been able to see.Posted by Hughie at March 23, 2006 8:13 AM
